Five on Friday

Happy Friday! The end of the school year is approaching, testing is in full swing in first grade and this teacher is mentally exhausted. I have never been so happy to see a Friday. The fact I have my mom and sister coming to town tonight makes me all the more excited for the weekend!

One. remember when I announced my sisters engagement on Monday? Well she is waisting no time getting the wedding planning started. This weekend we are going wedding dress shopping! I have no idea what type of dress my sister will choose. I can't wait to see her try on all different styles! We are combining a fun mothers day out in Wilmington and wedding dress shopping for Ginny. I can't wait to get our weekend started! Hurry up 4:00!

Two. I finally got around to getting Henson's collar personalized and LOVE how it turned out! He always ends up loosing or scratching his name tag beyond readability (the kind that dangles). I am so excited to not have to worry about loosing the tag anymore because now his name and our contact information is right on the collar! It's the little things right?

Three. It is mothers day weekend and this year I have two mothers to celebrate! These are two of the sweetest, most caring and giving people I know. My mom and mother in law are both worth celebrating today and everyday. Happy Mother's Day to these two!

Four. I have been real into podcast these days. I love to listen when I'm getting ready in the mornings and driving. The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey is my go to as well as Newspring Church's (which if you are looking for sermons to listen to these are AMAZING!) I would like to find some new podcast to listen to though! Any other podcasters out there that have a suggestion?!

Five. There is no five this week- remember the exhausted part up top?! Have a great weekend friends!!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday friends! I don't know about you but in my world this has been the LONGEST week ever! School ends next week and we have been in testing mode. The combination of students that are ready for a break and testing creates a very long week. It's Friday though so let's move on to happier things! I'm linking up today with AprilChristina,  Darci  and  Natasha for Five on Friday!

One. Pumpkin
I think my taste buds have their seasons mixed up. I have been loving my caramel macchiato coffee creamer lately because it reminds me of pumpkin spice latte season! On top of that I have been craving a pumpkin fruit dip and soups! I'm mixed up for sure, ha!

Two. Allergic Reaction
I planned to tell you about the fun girls dinner I had planned last night but that was quickly put to the side when I had a scary episode happen. Yesterday, I went for my weekly round of allergy shots. I have been going twice a week for 3 months and have never had any issues. I was sitting in the waiting  room waiting my 30 mins as a precautionary in case you do have a reaction when I got an extremely painful cramp in my abdomen. I don't think I have ever hurt so bad. After about 10 mins of the pain I started feeling lightheaded like I could faint. I notified the staff when that started and was rushed to the back where I was checked out. Sure enough I was having a severe allergic reaction. My blood pressure had dropped to 89/51, I was freezing, shaking from the epi pen and in so much pain. Luckily the medicine kicked in pretty quickly. I did have to stay for over an hour because I was shaking so bad but then I was safe to go. It was such a scary feeling that I hope to never have again!

Three. What's your vote?
I have worked with this sweet girl for 2 years now. Ever since my first interview ALL of our staff and students have gotten us two confused. To confuse everyone more, we also teach the same grade with classrooms on the same hall. My principal made a remark about it during my interview. Then, when I was leaving the interview our janitor asked my principal "Why are you interviewing her? She already works here!" (because Katie did already work at the school) .. Since then we've earned the label of twins around the school. What's your vote? Do you see it? (:

Four. Healthy Substitutions
Okay, I try really hard to make healthy substitutions with my cooking. Egg whites instead of eggs- done. Whole wheat bread instead of white- done. Unsweetened oatmeal- done. Almond milk instead of normal- done. The list truly goes on and on. There are some substitutions though that by golly just are not worth it. I made spaghetti this week using whole wheat pasta and ground turkey. No, just no. I didn't care for it at all. The whole wheat pasta I don't like very much but I could eat it given enough sauce on top. The ground turkey though? I just couldn't get used to it. I will not be making that mistake again- normal spaghetti for me from now on!

Five. Weekend
I'm super excited for the weekend! Me and J have some fun plans lined up. Saturday we are meeting with the realtor to look at three more townhouses. Eeek! So exciting!! Then Saturday evening we will be heading to Wilmington to celebrate Justin's cousin's wedding at his wedding party. Sunday I'm hoping to squeeze in some time on the beach. I'm ready for 3:00 when the weekend can officially begin! I hope you have a great one!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday friends! With it being a four day work week Friday got here a little bit quicker than normal. Let's just take a minute to say thank goodness for that. With it nearing the end of the school year my first graders are getting very antsy and I think the teachers are too. Only 13 more days to go until we are in full out summer mode! Today I'm linking up today for Five on Friday with 4 of my favorite blogs. Thanks for hosting  April,  ChristinaDarci and Natasha

One. NEW job!
I have some very exciting news! About a month ago I accepted a position teaching at an elementary school in Shallotte. This is SO much closer to where Justin lives. I am beyond thrilled to start this next chapter of my life!! No more 3 hour drives every single weekend trying to make long distance work! [insert huge grin] To make it even better it is one of the best elementary schools in the area. I have been trying to move out of Greenville for about 2 years now but for whatever reason it just never worked out. God works in mysterious ways and I truly believe I was kept here for a reason. Everything works out in His time.

Two. Moving
My new job will begin in August at the start of the next school year. I hope to officially move down the first of July though. I can't believe it's already almost June! Justin and I are spending this weekend checking out the area and looking for a place to live. Fingers crossed we are able to find something!

Three. Porch time
Spring is by far my favorite season. I have been able to spend my evenings this week on our screened in porch. It's been so nice.. I just love it!

Four. Beach trip
I have been blessed to get to know and work with the absolute best group of girls the past two years. They have become my very best friends. Since two of the five of us are moving after this school year, we decided to take a girls beach trip one weekend. We had the BEST time. I'm so thankful for their friendship!

Five. Blackbox
Has anyone else been watching ABC's Blackbox? It's a little eccentric and not my normal type of go to show but I am hooked!

Five On Friday

Naturally I typed up a 5 on Friday post and forgot to publish it.geez louise. We will call this Five on Saturday (:

Happy Friday friends! I'm linking up once again for Five on Friday with 4 of my favorite blogs Thanks for hosting AprilChristinaDarci and Natasha

one. I never had a chance to recap last weekend! It was such a nice time I want to make sure I document it. I headed to my hometown with my sister to celebrate her 22nd birthday. Justin came for the weekend as well so we could still do a little valentines celebration. After a weekend of family, two home cooked meals by my mom, 1 huge lunch at Macaroni Grill, 1 afternoon of drinks and Carolina basketball and a church service I left with a full heart and 5 pounds heavier. I kid.. hopefully.

two. Please just take a second to see how clever my boyfriend is. Ah, I was so tickled when I saw his very creative idea to protect his not so waterproof loafers from the snow.

three. I have always loved chips and dip for a snack. When I saw this peach mango salsa I knew I had to try it. If you love peaches/mangoes then I think you would like it. I can't get enough of it!

four. This week Eastern, NC has had temps in the upper 60's. I cannot express how much this gorgeous/oh so perfect weather has lifted my spirits. I always get very motivated when the temperature starts rising. I know this is just a tease as it is supposed to get very cold again soon but I am soaking up every second of the warm weather while I can! I was able to get out and do a little walk/run and it has me motivated to get back to running. whoop whoop! Motivation I tell ya.

five. This weekend I am heading to the beach to see J. I am even more excited than normal because the nice weather is supposed to last throughout the weekend. We are going to a wine tasting on Saturday and I couldn't be more excited!

Finally Friday!

After being at school until 7:30 pm last night for parent teacher conferences I am happy to finally say IT"S FRIDAY! It is finally the end of the work week and I couldn't be happier. It's a teacher workday at school, also known as, "I get to wear blue jeans and eat lunch like a normal person" day. Luckily for me I work with a great second grade team and school staff so teacher workdays are always enjoyable (or as enjoyable as a workday can be). At 3pm I will be heading to my packed car to head home for the weekend. I can't wait to get home and see my family!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Back to my roots

Yippee! It's Friday!  My days seemed to drag by this week but my week seemed to fly. Does that ever happen to you? Yesterday I had quite the day at elementary school. I was completing part of my portfolio requirements that required video taping. I hate filming myself, I get so nervous! It was also the central office walk through day. Of course it just so happens one of my students spilt my full cup of water causing me to be on my hands and knees cleaning it up when the  central office guy walks in. Just lovely, haha. After several other small situations that seemed big to me I was happy for the day to almost be over. But then, nope! One of my students had a seizure and we had to call the ambulance. As a teacher this is s-c-a-r-y. I was in full panic mood. Thankfully she is going to be okay but I know she is shaken up.

It's finally Friday and I will be heading home to see my parents for the weekend. I am very ready for a little break and to get away. Hopefully I will get a chance to work on some school work. However, every time I go home it seems like my days are jam packed so we will see if any work actually gets done. I hope you have a great Friday!!

Friday!!

It's Friday!!

Yesterday when I finished babysitting I had to head outdoors considering it was 70 degrees and gorgeous!! I met up with two of my girlfriends and we did a little "front porch sitting". As amazing as that was, it didn't leave me much time to put a post together for today. I think that's okay though because it's Friday and what more does anyone need to know. YAY!!

Have a great day!!

Friday the 13th

Did you realize it's Friday the 13th friends? I'm not superstitious but I still think knowing this date puts a wave of mystery into the air! I know my posting hasn't been quite up to par this past week but with adjusting to student teaching my days haven't left much or any free time. I promise next week will be better(:

In the meantime I hope you have a fantastic Friday!

I'm keeping this post short and sweet but full of giggles. When I was a kid I remember watching Kids Say the Darndest Things with my grandparents every Friday night (or whichever night it came on) and laughing so hard. I think it is such a classic and wish it was still being filmed. I had forgotten about the show until I was completing some school work and came across a clip in my homework. (entertaining homework obviously) I knew I just had to share in hopes that you laugh as hard as I did. Enjoy!
