Nursery Reveal

Anna Claire's nursery is officially finished! Technically there is still one more wall I plan to add pictures to but I am waiting until after she is born and we have newborn pictures! This room has been such a labor of love. I started working on it right after Christmas and we did little projects along the way. I can't thank my husband and father in law enough for helping install shelves, put down new flooring, hang pictures and curtains, etc. They worked so hard!! I really wanted the room to be a light pink with creamy white accents. I think it turned out just lovely! I cannot wait to bring our little one home to this precious space! It is definitely my favorite room in the house and I know Justin feels the same way. We both occasionally sit in there and just look around. It is such a sweet feeling knowing we will be bringing OUR baby home to this space so soon!!

Living Room updates

Justin and I moved into our house almost a year and a half ago. Since then we have worked on decorating and filling it a little bit at a time. It is crazy to think just how far we have come in such a short amount of time! Our house is no where near finished as far as decorating. There really isn't one room I would say is "finished". That's part of the fun though.. always adding and changing to finally see it start to come together! Today I am going to show you our living room which like I said is not finished but has come a long way. It's definitely not "pinterest perfect" but I like to be able to look back and see how things have changed! You can see our living room a year ago here

Since I last posted a picture of our living room we added two mirrors and four prints to the wall. This was such a large wall space and I was at a loss on how to fill it! I think I like how it turned out though!

Two of my favorite accessories in this room. My mom found that blue and white lamp for us that I LOVE and Justin gifted me the Labrador pillow for Christmas which makes my heart smile every time I read it.

This rug is also new. Believe it or not Justin picked it out ALL by himself. Love! Next up on the list is a new couch. So there you have it friends.. our living room! Where lots of blogging, Netflix and Bachelor watching occurs. Speaking of.. whose watching tonight?! I can't wait!

Bedroom Inspiration

Our bedroom is one area of the house that could really use some work. We have only been in our house just over a year and have been doing a little bit at a time. It has come A LONG way but of course as with any home there is still a ton to do! I would love to get our bedroom fixed up pretty soon. Right now there are zero pictures on the wall (other than our married monogram above the bed) because I am one of those types that will for no reason what so ever put a nail in the wall until I am absolutely sure about what to put there. We have this awkward space between the bed and the wall that I think would be perfect for a pretty arm chair or maybe even a desk. I am the most indecisive person ever so it takes lots of pinning, dreaming and planning for me to make a move. (: Here are some of my inspiration pictures for our bedroom.

I have a thing for fabric headboards. We don't have one at the moment. We are using a wooden sleigh which I also love but this is just so soft looking.

..swoon. YES, please!!

It looks so airy and peaceful... totally my style!

I would love to add a full length mirror beside a chair or bench

Did you notice a pattern? I obviously love light blue, white and neutral colors. Our bedroom was put on hold while we got the living room, dining room and guest rooms up and running. Now I think it's finally time to make our room just as cozy as the rest of the house!

Dining Room Update

A few months ago I posted about our new Farmhouse dining room table. You can read about that here. The dining room is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I love that my future father in law built our table, I love how bright the room is with the windows and I love that this room is almosttttt complete. It has been so so fun decorating our home since we moved in last summer. There are SO many more things I want to do but I am trying to pace myself since everything I love cost a small fortune and we have a wedding coming up! Not a bad problem to have in my opinion. (: Since I last posted about our dining room table we have made a few changes. We added plates to the wall, purchased two fabric chairs for the end of the table and Justin's dad built us the matching bench for our farm table.

I would eventually like to change the curtains for some longer ones and add a corner hutch or some type of buffet. It's a tight space so I'm thinking a corner piece might work best. I would also like to add some type of picture to the left side of the windows, until we get a hutch. Side note: those gorgeous flowers on the table are from my sweet fiance! He surprised me last week when I had strep throat.

This is to the side of our dining room. I love the colorful Easter egg wreath that I found for under $10 at CVS!! I know I should take it down now that Easter is over but it makes me happy!

This is our front door to the other side of the dining room. These shelves have been a struggle. For real, I have no idea what to do with them. They were there when we moved in. The tall picture to the left probably will not stay there but we are keeping it on display until we decide the perfect spot for it. (It is one of our engagement pictures that Justin's mom had blown up on a canvas as a Christmas gift)

I love to see the progress we are making in our home. I have a feeling the house will never really be "finished" as it is so fun to get new ideas and make small changes here and there. Does anyone else feel that way about their home? Happy Thursday friends! The weekend is ALMOST here!

Guest Room #1 Reveal

Happy Monday friends! Did the weekend fly by for anyone else? It always seems to for me! I'm back from a 2 week blog break that I did not mean to take. Work got absolutely crazy and took up all of my extra time. Let's hope things have calmed down some! Justin and I moved into our house back in August and have been working ever since to get each room styled just how we want it. A little over 5 months later I can finally say we have one room in the house COMPLETE! Yes.. no other rooms are finished but that's okay! We will get there.. eventually. I really wanted to work hard to get one of our guest rooms finished so that we would have a place for overnight guest to stay. When Justin's cousin decided to stay over Christmas eve it was just the motivation I needed to get the room finished! When we moved in this room was baby blue and needed some paint. I painted it myself and then got busy with the rest of the decorations. Here is the final outcome:

of course Henson had to sneak in a picture or two..

I would still like to add some curtains to the windows but other than that it is complete. I love the way it turned out and love even more having a room for our friends and family to stay in! Hint hint, mom.. the room is ready, come visit! (:

Farmhouse Dining Room Table

When Justin and I bought our house I immediately knew I wanted a Farmhouse style dining room table. Before we had even moved in and were waiting to close I had searched pinterest for hours on end looking for inspiration. I knew I had my heart set on a farm table with a bench, two wooden chairs and two fabric chairs on the end. I had all intentions of purchasing one when the time came but after sharing this idea with my future mother in law she quickly told me she thought Justin's dad could build one. What?! You mean I might could get my dream table made with love and for a fraction of the price? I was sold. Justin's oh so handy dad got busy making the table right before Christmas and gave it to us as a early Christmas present. The table turned out even better than I imagined and because it was built by family it makes it all the more special.

He used North Carolina Charm's DIY Farmhouse Dining Table Post for directions and guidance. {That was also the place I first fell in love with a farm table!}

Of course I had to sneak Henson into a photo..

My future father in law who is obviously going to be the best FIL ever

My favorite part!

We are borrowing the chairs from Justin's aunt until we get some of our own. The plan is to have the matching bench built and buy 2 wooden chairs for the sides and then use 2 fabric chairs for the ends. I just love how the table turned out. Since then we have added a few plates to the dining room walls. We are still on the hunt for the perfect chairs!

Christmas House Tour

Merry Christmas friends!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas celebrating with family and friends! This year I have been so blessed as I was able to spend Christmas with not only my family but Justin's as well, and with close friends. I have been a little absent from the blog enjoying every minute of the Christmas season but I am back and can't wait to share about my holiday! Those that have been reading know that Justin and I bought a house back in August; read here. This was our first Christmas together in our house and definitely one to remember. We had so much fun filling the house with Christmas decorations and starting traditions. I snapped some pictures partly to show off the Christmas decor and partly to show off how the living room and dining room are coming along! I hope you love it as much as we do!!

So with this picture you can see our new Everett foyer table under the TV and our new chair. Next on the wish list is the matching couch, a side table and wall art. We're getting there.. one piece at a time. (:

You can read about our hunt for a chair here. This is the Bennington chair from Rooms to go.. I LOVE how it turned out!! It is SO comfy and the perfect size to cuddle up in.

Everett foyer table..this is probably my favorite piece of furniture in the house. I love love love it! It fits perfectly under our TV.

Do you see our NEW farm table in the dining room?! My future father in law built that for us for Christmas. Full post to come.. he did an awesome job!

The search for the perfect chair.

My mission last weekend was to find the perfect chair for our living room. Right now we have a couch and a love seat in our living room. It was very nice to have both and SO comfortable but I just didn't think we had quite enough room to fit both couches without looking cramped. Every way we would move them one of the arms of the couch would always overlap with the other. I was puzzled at what to do but thanks to my mom she had the great idea to move the love seat to Justin's man cave which needed more seating anyway and invest in a chair or possibly 2 for our living room. There are so many options out there for chairs it was hard to pick just one! I started out thinking I wanted a colored pattern to add some color. Right now our living room is mostly taupe, you know the same color all of my furniture/ decor and even shoes. (: I think that must be my favorite color. Ha! Anyways that brought me to a Bassett store where they have TONS of fabric options for their furniture.

My favorite ended up being the red hounds tooth in the left corner. After lots of consideration though I decided to keep looking but this time at the opposite- a neutral color non pattern chair and ottoman. So the search continued and led me to these beauties.

Whitmore Wing Lindy Chair from Overstock here

PB Arm chair from pottery barn here

After lots and lots of thought and consideration and discussion with Justin we knew we needed a chair that is comfortable to sit in after a long day of work and we could use for years to come. So ta da... here is our chair! It is the Bennington Chair and matching ottoman (not pictured). It should be arriving to our home in about a week!

Fall on the front porch

This past weekend was the first time it truly felt like fall in the Carolina's. October rolled around, the temperature dropped and mums are right around every corner. There is something so refreshing about the season. I love everything fall has to bring! This weekend Justin and I decided to stay home to relax and work around the house some. It was the absolute perfect weekend in my opinion! We cleaned the house AND our cars, spent lots of time with Henson, made a big pot of spaghetti and got the front porch ready for fall.

I knew before we even found this house that I wanted rocking chairs on the front porch. It was just a matter of waiting for the right time to get them. We knew we couldn't have pumpkins and flowers on the front porch without any rocking chairs to sit and view them in! We found the perfect chairs at Home Depot. I am in l-o-v-e. Now to just find a little table to put in the middle.

Of course Henson had to check out the pumpkins.

Every time I walk outside and see the mums, pumpkins and rocking chairs my heart smiles!! Happy girl! Fall please take your time.. (:
