Eye Candy

There are several popular styles out right now that my eye keeps going back to. Last year I started to see the chambray shirts but thought I couldn't pull it off. This year my mind has changed and I cannot stop looking at them. Here are some of the items I'm currently dreaming about.

I have  a similar Michael Kors pocket book but I love this style!

I was tired of polka dots for a while but I guess I'm over it. Love!

A gingham shirt

A leather watch

After looking at Pinterest, I don't think I am the only onto eyeing some of these items!! That must just mean we all have good taste(:

Happy Tuesday!

Time Flies

I am in complete shock at how fast this first nine weeks has gone by. Today marked the end of the first marking period. It absolutely FLEW by. We needed the marking period with a little Pumpkin Math. I think I was more excited than the students! It was fun to break away from the curriculum for a day to have a little fun. I was SO lucky to have parent volunteers come in to help! The day was a huge success!

Measuring the ciucumfrence

Counting seeds

Finished product!

Does it sink or float?

I'm definitely attached to all of my students. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year will bring. I know I ended up at this school this year for a reason. I feel blessed!

On another note, last weekend I was able to head home for the weekend which is always nice. Mom claims I need to stop visiting because it breaks the bank stocking me up with groceries, gas, etc. I say it's all worth it .. whatcha think mom? (: My family and I went to a wedding in Greensboro at the Carolina Theatre. The wedding was gorgeous but what I enjoyed most was spending time with my parents. It's fun connecting with my family in a different way than I did when I was younger.

She has definitely become my best friend! Love you!

I'm supposed to be in Raleigh right now for Color Me Rad but the hurricane is messing me up. I guess I will see in the morning if I'm able to go or not! Fingers crossed!

Life's Little Lessons

Life's Little Lessons Via Pinterest

Simple enough right? Sometimes it takes a little reminding ourself that happiness is not something you rely on anyone else for, but something you create yourself.

As a teacher this one really stuck out to me. It's easy to leave school tired and worn out but it is SO SO important to start the next day with a fresh and positive attitude!! It will make your day so much more enjoyable!

Words are something you can't take back. Know what to say, when to say it and most importantly when to stop.

Such great advice!

Things happen, let it go.

Happy Wednesday friends! Half way through the work week, whew who! Looking at the calendar and seeing October 17th took me by surprise this morning. I write the date on the board every morning yet still seem to loose track of time. When did summer end? Let's slow down a little bit please!!
I realized next weekend is the date of something very exciting I signed up for a while back. I will be participating in Color Me Rad 5k with a friend and my sister next weekend. I am SO EXCITED. Have you heard of it? It is similar to The Color Run if you have heard of that. Now I am not an avid runner and the thought of me doing a 5K almost deserves a laugh. I have always wanted to partake in one however. When I found out this one was just for fun with no pressure I knew it was the one for me. Color + fun + trying something new= yes please!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday(:

Let's talk hair

Let's talk hair my friends..

I admit that I use a flat iron on my hair EVERY day. I have somewhat straight hair but it is very "poofy" and a tad bit wavy. A straightener is a must to get the results I want. I recently tried out a new flat iron made my Misikko named the Hana Elite Flat Iron. You can check out their website here

Since I use a flat iron, blow dry my hair and color it I am always worried that I am going to damage my hair. I use all of the necessary precautions that I know of: color care products, heat protectant spray, conditioner, etc. A girl can't help but still be nervous that isn't enough though when you pick up a flat iron and seem steam coming out. That is too much heat for me!

For the past few years I have been using a Chi flatiron and have had no problems with it. I love everything about it! I recently tried out the new Hana Flat Iron however, and have to say I love it just as much! There is one thing I love more about the Hana than my Chi though. It has adjustable heat settings!! Yep! That is perfect for this girl who is always scared of damaging my hair! It also came with a heat proof storage pouch and matt. I have been needing some kind of storage for my flat iron and this was perfect!

I considered a before/after picture but seeing as I used it before work at approximately 5:50am I was not looking my best before. I'm afraid an after picture is all you will get from me today(:

While I still love my Chi, I also love my Hana! If you are in the market for a new flat iron check it out! You can compare the two here

Happy kids=Happy Teacher

Hi, I'm Amanda
and I am not a huge fan of animals

okay I said it, gasp if you must.

Of course I love my adorable Basset Hounds and many a lab or two
but I love them even more if they aren't touching, licking, etc in my bubble.

Moving away from dogs, not so much a fan of being around really anything else

Animals gross me out

I say all of this to tell you that I have completely lost my mind

I BOUGHT MEAL WORMS FOR MY STUDENTS.
As much as having to touch these little creatures gives me the chills I am so excited.
I know my kids are going to LOVE this and that makes me one happy teacher (:

I'm not telling my students until next week but I'm so excited I had to go ahead and share!

on another note..
We're almost through the week. I'm ready for the weekend!!

Frogmore

Frogmore Stew, Low Country Boil..
whatever you want to call it, it's one of a kind deliciousness!

This weekend we had a home football game. It was a tad bit rainy and chilly but that did not stop the fun! It actually did put a damper on the game but the tailgate wasn't affected.(:

This is what my Saturday consisted of!

You have to love fall/football weekends!! Right now it seems like all my life consist of is first grade and football on the weekends. I'm not complaining though!

Hope you had a great Monday!
